Solar Fountains (is this the right place to ask?)

Bettendorf, IA

I would love a fountain but don't have electricity near enough to the garden area. I have been looking at solar fountains and found a couple that you can put the solar panel up to 15 ft away. Would this work for an area that isn't 100% sunny (as long as the solar panel was placed in a 100% sunny spot?) I have seen where you can get a battery backup, too, to store the energy - anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

Peggy.....I started with solar pumps....then moved to bigger things once I couldn't stop buying fish. I had the ones with the battery back-up...they would creat a fountain all day long, store energy, and then do a fountain with a light at night. It would almost be morning by the time they were running low on energy. If you get several days of rain, they won't run, but otherwise did a fairly good job and moving the water.

Peggy - Could you please post the website of where you are looking at solar fountains. I, too, have the same problem and am interested in what you have found for sale. Thank you!

There are a good many listed on Ebay...and quite often at better prices (be careful to look at the shipping charges, as often times that's where they really "up" the price. Cut and paste this link t your browser. I have used this one before, as it keeps the water moving, and has back up batteries for rainy days, as well as the light at night.

Home Depot online is showing the one I referred to (with the backup battery and light) for $99.

I have to check out the Home Depot one

I was looking at this one - trying to decide if I like the style but I definitely like that you can have the solar panel up to 15 ft away

There are several on this page that also have cables to connect the solar panel

same with this one:

The one I sent the link for is for outdoor pond use.....the others are for smaller things like birdbaths and small fountains. I have used the smaller birdbath ones, to keep the water moving (which keeps mosquitoes out!) I think my entire back yard is solar! Maybe I can get some night time pictures.
