Thanks to DG Hoya lover!

Hi, I am embarrassed to say I have lost the dmail and can't recall who sent me three hoyas a while back! I was new here and posted a photo just to see what the cutting my friend gave me was--my friend had no idea just said it was some kind of ivy. You all helped me id it as a hoya. Anyhow, someone offered to send me some cuttings and they are doing fine. I was pleasantly surprised to find this one blooming! The tag says multiflora. The blooms look like shooting stars. I have the hoyas sittingl around my bathtub because the glass block enclosure gives it the most light in my home. Thanks so much to the generous soul who sent it to me!

Congratulations CactusPatch! I LOVE Multiflora and you will too. Mine blooms all the time :)
Be sure to leave the pendule on (the part where the flowers are coming out of) as it will bloom from there over and over :)

Congratulations again!

So you are saying not to "dead head" when it is done blooming? How interesting!

I read in the plantfiles that Hoyas like a slightly acidic soil. So I added a small amount of Miracid to the water I am using for them. What fertilizer do you experts use on your Hoyas?

Oh goodness, I am certainly NOT a hoya expert *lol*. Mine grow slower than molasses going up a hill in January *lol*
I have acidic water already as we are on a well with acidic soil so I don't have to add anything to my water. I use the "beer fertilizer" on everything but I don't know what the experts here use, you may want to wait to hear from them.

As far as the flowers go, let them dry and fall off naturally. Don't deadhead them, leave the little pendule thing on :)

Good luck with it. I just rooted 2 cuttings from my mother plant of this and they rooted easily so now I have 3! I'm VERY excited as both the mother plant AND the 2 babies all have buds on them. This one LOVES to bloom. Not a fragrant one but the blooms are beautiful and unique :)

Nice plant!!! And what nice friends you have, CactusPatch!!! In NM I think your greatest challenge will be providing the humidity...and your tub area sounds perfect!

Actually, it has been determined that the H. multiflora we all have and love is actually H. javanica....it loves water!!! Watch out for mealie bugs, tho....it tends to be a magnate!!! (did I spell that correctly?)

Thanks Aloha, actually my friend who gave me the original (I think it was identified as Carnosa?) puts her large plant on her patio from May until October here. Her yard is mostly gravel (many people's idea of xeriscape here! LOL!) so I doubt it is as humid as mine. I live at about 100 ft. higher elevation than she does and we tend to get a bit more rain.

I don't think I have ever had mealie bugs on anything. Are they small white bugs? I better go look in the bug files.
