Would you mind describing the vertical trellis type structure in the pot? I've seen similar devices in the past and am wondering what they are. Is it just a stick? Does it create much "top weight" so as to cause the pot to tip over?

Thanks in advance,

Goodness - Awanda is growing beautiful plants!!! I am really impressed!

Awesome plants.......

Awanda? Have you ever thought about living in Canada???

Medford, NJ

I didn't know Awanda sold rooted plants, it looks like cuttings only on her site. That is a very healthy looking plant!

Andrew, it looks like some sort of tightly wound long-haired fiber. It's not heavy enough to make the pot tip over. If Awanda pops in, she can tell you exactly what it is.

Bhavana- I didn't know that either until I saw TamiF's Starbucks special. LOL If you look under the "Our Photos(name?)" section you'll see this rooted plant.

I'm not 100% but I think they refer to it as a fern pole.
I stumbled into Marden's the other day and they had fern poles for 5 cents each! I almost died! I bought 5....drove home....thought about it all night and then asked hubby to drive me back for 5 more *lol* How cheap am I? I should have bought the whole dang box of them *lol*

WOW...good price on the Fern Poles. They are cut from Tree Fern and I have to pay amost a dollar for a chunk of it to grow things on....

GH I'm happy you're pleased with your new baby:-). That is a fern pole in the center of the pot.

Awanda, would you mind terribly describing fern poles to me? Will they fit in small 4" pots? Do you find them easier to use than bamboo trellises, or small garden stakes? They are new to me and I'd like to learn their purpose, and benefits.

Thanks in advance,
-Andrew

Do they ship to Canada maybe? Now that I'm getting more Hoyas, I need to do something besides hang them....

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

3gardeners I'll check and let you know, and I hadn't thought of moving to Canada...too cold in the winter for me:-).

Hey now wait a minute, GrowHappy, I think your plant is bigger than mine. Wasn't it nice to splurge on yourself? Made me feel good. Now that the weather is cooling off, I need to get a couple more, oops I mean no I don't need anymore hoya's , Right Mel ;) Congrats on your new hoya.

Oh I have to check for fern poles around here. It's a much neater and more compact alternative to chicken wire stuffed with LFS. If anyone finds an online source, please do share!

TamiF-:) Funny, I thought your plant looked taller than mine.;) Splurging on this hoya made me feel so much better, after the last couple of bad weeks at work. I deserve it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL
