Picture of Cleome Plant

Hi,
Well that was easier than I anticipated....Here is the parent plant of the Purple Cleome Seeds...This plant was grown from seeds that someone donated to me for starting a new garden....It is still growing and looks great...
Please let me know what seeds you have to trade for my Cleome Seeds....

Gail,

I may have some seeds to trade with you, but I want to ask you about collecting Cleome seeds. I have Cleome, but mostly pink and I love the purple, so that is why I may trade some, and I will let you know what I have to trade. But what I want to know is how do you know when the seeds are ripe and ready to collect. Do the pods change color? The pods have been there a long time but they are still green.

Carol

Oh, and are you looking for anything in particular? I have a LOT of seeds...

Hi Carol,
I thought my pods were never going to ripen, but yesterday when I went out in the garden I saw the bottom pods opening themselves, some were brownish on tops like the sun hardened them, but they were not all brown. I decided to try some of the other lower ones that were still closed and put my fingers at the stem side and gently pulled and the ones that were ripened came open very easily and the seeds inside them were brown not white. You should try opening a few of the lowest (oldest) ones and see what color the seed is....I figured if I did not collect them I would have way too many seedlings where I don't want more coming up. I did place alot of the seeds in spots in the garden that I do hope to have more Cleome.
I hope that helps you.

Gail,

thanks for the info. I will check them! They are such good bloomers I would like to have some in a lot of places. I also know people I can give them to. So what kind of seeds are you looking for? I would like some more purple because most of mine are pink or white...

Hi Carol,

I am trying to plant more fragrant flowers...I love 4 oclocks, have pink and now yellow is starting to bloom, planted yellow later...I would be more than happy to send you some of my cleome seeds...when I look at the plant the purple has all purple and some are purple and white...I guess I had mixed seed....
I would love fragrant seed and big showy flower seed...

Thanks
Gail
