Look at my baby 'Ginny'

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I know the book says she can get to 20" but she doesn't and makes a nice little houseplant.....

She's a dandy of a begonia! I gave one to my niece who has a bit of a green thumb, but this was her first begonia and she's done great with it.

Do you love the pink fur on the petals or WHAT!

you will have to keep an eye out for me on these little begonias, please.........I know.......I was shocked when the bloom was furry!!!!!!!!!! your niece had to be excited as Ginny is so feminine looking.............wish i could find about 10 of her..........(not the same plant i mean)

There's another that is very similar called 'Pam' but I haven't seen it sold commercially. We had some at the arboretum, but I haven't seen it in a while. Either we sold the last one, lost the mother plant or it got it's tags switched with Ginny.

You may look into joining your local ABS branch for more resources of the little ones. Or hitch a flight to LA in September for the big begonia shin dig.

Oh, please give me the scoop on that show!!!!!!! Do i quickly need to join the national group of begonia people?? (I seriously doubt that anyone locally even knows what a begonia is........even at our better nurseries in Corpus Christi, they only get the same 5 rex begonias and no canes)

Best person to ask here (on DG) is Begoniaboy (Mike)
I got my info packet through my local ABS.

I have had my Ginny outdoors for a couple years now, under an orange tree. Even went through our extended frost this past winter. It got ratty looking, a few snips here and there and she is good as new, almost in constant bloom. I was surprised actually at how many actually did quite well through the winter outdoors, they are not as delicate as I thought. I even have a rex in a large pot that comes back every year.

how pretty...............I like to keep mine indoors as there aren't too many begonias that will stay small in the house...)LOL
