I planted some lilies this year for the first time. Something is crawling up the stems and eating the leaves one by one and then eating the entire top of the plant.
Once I saw a slug on one so I immediately started putting out slug bait. I haven't seen anymore slugs but the eating is still going on. One garden bed now has zero lilies in it. I'm not sure if whatever is eating them is specific to our area or not, which is why I'm posting here first before I go over to bulbs.
Thanks,
Gwen
What's eating my lilies?
Look for a shield shaped bright red lily beetle. (Nice of them to wear red - sort of like the Revolution. Foolish of those Brits to be so obvious - what could they have been thinking?).

Don't have those around here I don't think. I've looked. I think I've discovered that it's bunnies! Gonna go out and spray with liquid fence in a little while. Darn bunnies!
Gwen
In my case, it was squirrels. They took nice fat bites off the top of just-emergent lilies. Poor things never had a chance.
