We have a new baby! We raise miniature horses. This is INDY, born on the fourth of July. (Registered name Lauralees Troublz ND Pendence). He has two big blue eyes like mom!
Not a chicken, but he is a little cocky....
Hi Lauralee. I also raise miniature horses, we more than likely know each other from the lilbeginnings site? I am waiting for my mare Crystal to foal, you hear that Crystal, any time Crystal is JUST FINE!! Congratulations!!!!
Danielle _E. (on lilbeginnings)
Oh HI Danielle, great to see you here!!!!! You have a son of Playgirl, right? I'll always remember Shafeena too....she reminds me of my Princess.
I think I'm tired of the unending drama at LB. Have gotten WAY into flower gardening and other things. This is a really cool place!
I wanted to set up my ID as Lauralee here, but can't find the way to change it.
Hugs, Lauralee
Nice to see you hear. I hear you about LB. I have taken up soap making and am having a blast. Helps me while on mare stare. Had some muscovies hatch the other day, well only 2 at this point but so far only 1 has made it.
OH MY LORD
its soooo cute
I love horses
When my two old mares die(they are in their 30's),I am going to get a minature or 2
I sooo don't want to mow the pasture like a lawn......
Forgot to answer your question. Yes I have a son of "Playgirl", he is my junior stallion "Flash" He is a black and white pinto and sires VERY small and WONDERFUL personalities on babies :-). Crystal is bred to him and SHOULD foal any day. Expecting alot of color since she is a maximum sabino overo (LWO and carries the splash gene) she is also blue eyed.
Now I am not a horse person! I do ,however, think they are magnificent beings! I just never got the chance as a child to be around them , so I grew up being afraid of any animal larger than myself! but...... I recently got to see a miniature horse! I am in love!!!! I want one so badly! Laura that little baby is absolutely precious!
How many acres of land would a person have to have to raise a little horse like that? I am so determined now to have one!
Hi Eufaula,
A miniature horse can live on a lot less property than the big ones need.
Say, 1/3 acre, that should be plenty for each one.
You know, now, they are like potatoe chips. You can't have just one!
They are much more manageably physically than the big ones. They do something wrong, get in trouble, and pretty quickly decide that you're able to make them mind due to size. Seems the big ones keep pushing buttons even after a spanking, just to test the water, as they realize that they are much bigger than you.
At least, that is my experience.

horses make me nervous....it's the lips. They are so lippy!
I had a Tennessee Walker who use to undo gate latches with her lips
When we started using rope to tie them shut, she learned how to untie them too
