HELP - need infor about just hatched muscovy

Oxford Mills, Canada

Have any of you hatched muscovies? What should I expect when they first hatch. I have a little one that just hatched a few hours ago...he/she is drying off but how long before they are mobile? I have him/her under a heat lamp at the moment. He/she did drink a bit of water but I am very concerned that this little one won't make it. One other hatched today but I think Momma, not knowing could have suffocated it, she was lying on him. HELP.

they normaly sit on them
thats how they keep them warm and dry
they usually wait for 24 hours or so to get off the nest after hatching

Thank you. I don't know what happened with the one I found dead in the next. I scooped up all the eggs and brought them in the house and one hatched in the house. I have put him/her back with momma but not sure if he will make it. His eyes are open but it seems it wants to sleep ALOT, he is not truly mobile, is this normal? He/she hatched approximate 4 hours ago

give it a day or so
They are really good moms and don't usually leave the nest without them

WOOHOO!!! I was so scared this morning to go and check on him/her. I walked into the barn and into the duck house this morning truly thinking I would find a dead little one and WOOHOO!!!! momma was sitting on him/her and he looks GREAT! He is all fluffed up, still wobbly but he drank a bit of water and did manage to move around a bit. I am absolutely THRILLED and so is my 5 year old grandaughter.
