Now that we are all getting moon-wise, and realize we just can't go moving and planting all willy nilly.......let's hear some ideas for getting ourselves organized. I can see how a calendar could be useful here, do some planning ahead....
How do you co-ordinate yourself to the moon??
One thing I have always loved about gardening is that I go out and just do what looks like it needs to be done, and what I feel like. So getting organized by the moon won't be easy for me!
Exactly....that's been my garden approach as well, do what needs to be done when it's needed....Having to plan ahead is gonna be hard.
I'm glad to hear other folks feel the same way I do! As intrigued as I am by Moon gardening -- and I'm definitely going to give it a try -- I know myself well enough to know it will be a challenge to be that organized. Calendar would be most helpful. . .
Yes, and even with a calendar I tend to put things to do and juggle them around the calendar as time permits. I thought I would buy the Old Farmer's almanac this next year and try to organize myself!
My gosh - we are all the same!!! But I do truly believe that this moon gardening thing is the answer to really good plants so I just have to give it a try!! I have a number of things in pots waiting to go into the ground and will try the new moon theory (after I re-read everything and try to get some of it straight in my head!).
I have never planned ahead,,,will be hard to start,,,,lol
I'm going to start simply and try to do the sowing and cuttings at the right times and work out from there.
I've certainly had good results when I've managed to get my act together in the past.
In September the gardener's version of The Old Farmer's Almanac calender is coming out. I'm going to pick one up and start with that. I'm hopping the calendar form will be easier to incorporate than the book. I bought the book last year and found it had way too much information to digest.
I get overwhelmed by the book whenever I have bought it. So much in there
Same here ;-)
DustyDS is giving some really good pointers on this thread http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/747301/ for those of us finding the almanacs a bit daunting ;)
that's a great thread. I have been following it. Good info.
