Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

A friend forwarded this photo to me in an email. The woman is holding a saucer of sugar water in the palm of her hand.

Oh what a GREAT photo! I'm assuming she has some serum in the palm of her hand.

Thanks for posting this b!

Would that be a thrill, or what???!!! The only time I've had a hummingbird in my hand was when I rescued one from a window sill. It was so tiny and I actually overcame my fear of heights (temporarily anyway) and climbed a stepladder to the top to get the poor little thing.

Incredible picture! Can you imagine how still that woman had to sit? What fun! Murmur, how wonderful of you to rescue that little bird--I'm curious to know how the rescue went?

The rescue was a success, I am happy to say!!! During that time we had a multitude of birds coming into the house (DH finally agreed screen doors had a purpose and took the 2 seconds it takes to slide it over) because the property in back of us - 20 acres - was clear cut. The poor birdies didn't know what to do. It was a nightmare. DH rescued another one with a fishing net, but sadly we found a couple that didn't make it. We have really high ceilings with windows at three levels - the birds would often land on the middle sill. They also went into the skylight in the kitchen. It was so sad.

Awww...but you saved as many as you could, and that's great!

Yes, we were glad we were able to save those two Hummers, and quite a few Chickadees and Finches.
