Seeking: Blue Penstemon

I would like to try to winter sow some Blue Penstemon this year should anyone have extra seeds from theirs.

I have 2 penstemons that will have seeds that I can share. One is a very pretty pink with bluish/gray leaves (picture attached) and the other is Penstemon Smallii with purple/white flowers (picture attached).

I will also have seeds from my Platycodon (balloon plant) collection (different colors) this fall.

Because I am in Maine, I am gathering seeds long after the southern states so I try to get my requests out while you all are starting to gather seeds.

Gosh Kim, I have sour grapes penstemon, got a small plant in early spring and this is my first blue, or I'm guessing this would be called blue, I dunno, anyways it's not even close to flowering yet, no buds at all.

Wow I'm surprised it hasn't bloomed for you. My pink is all done and setting seeds by the hundreds and my Smallii is still blooming it's head off and setting seeds daily and I'm in zone 5. Maybe yours it too tiny to bloom this year and needs this season to "settle in" a little. hmmmm

Am wondering if they bloom at different times than the pink?

hmmmmm maybe. I only have the pink and purple and enjoy both of them alot. Would really like to add blue and try to winter sow them :)

Wow Kim, those are so pretty! I love them! This is the only one I have, and I just recently noticed seed pods on it. I got it last year and it just bloomed this year. I'd love to have pink.

Are you sure what you inserted as a picture is actually penstemon? For some reason it doesn't look like it to me but maybe a closer shot of the bloom might help? Sure looks pretty but if it's a tropical, it won't make it in Maine :(

No, actually I'm not sure.. I got it at the RU last year. The tag just said Purple Penstemon. I can't remember who I got it from.. :(
It is leaning over onto another plant, I'll try to get a better picture.

I noticed yesterday my sour grapes starting to bud up! Clearly this puppy is on a different schedule that my other penstemons.

I looked up Sour Grapes and it is a fantastic color, however, not hardy for my zone :( Would love to see a picture of it when it is in full bloom for you. Congratulations :)

LOL Oops....looked again, I have a purple angelonia right next to the sour grapes and it has nearly identical foliage....that's what has the buds ;P
