here's the deal. i bought them from a garden center. they all have tags but i can not guarantee that the plant tags were maintained accurately as people take them out and don't always put them back correctly as you know. but they should at least be one of the varieties listed here although it is possible that it might be dr.ruppel, barbara jackman or nelly moser as they did have those for sale at the same time but none with those tags were left when i found these. if you ask for h.f. young i will send you a plant with that tag and hopefully it will be correct. but it might be one of the others listed. if i am not clear to you please ask me again as i want to be sure you understand.
they were all growing in 4 in. pots. they all have very good root systems. many of them had roots coming out of the bottom of the pots. i have repotted them in quart containers and that was a bit crowded for most of them. the vines themselves already have that "dead vine" look that clematis get but all have green leaves growing along the vine. some of the foliage is a foot or more long. i am going to cut that back when i mail them to you unless you tell me not to.
i don't know what the response on these will be but i anticipate that quite a few of you might want them. i have 23 clematis plants so in order not to confuse myself i am prob. just going to let you post what you have to trade and not get back with anyone until i see how many of each is wanted and how many of each i have. if you want a vine and don't have anything to trade when this is done if i have vines left if you want to pay me what i paid for them plus postage that will be fine with me. but i naturally prefer to trade them.

ramona
