HELP: NEED IDENITY OF THIS TEXAS PLANT

Au Gres, MI(Zone 5a)

Hello Texas Gardeners.......My sister lives in the Ft.Worth area, and has asked me, (A Michigander) to identify this plant that keeps coming up year after year. She keeps pulling it out and each year keeps coming back

It looks very similar to a Canna Lily to me with the wide green leaves, but the size of the flower has me stumped. Can anyone out there help me identify it for her.

Thanks........

You guessed correctly, Deann! that's a canna for sure. They are hard to get rid of but they're pretty. And hers look healthy.

Her cannas are very healthy, and great for hummers.

Well, I guess if it looks like a Canna, it is probably a Canna, right?

tell her if she really doesn't want them to dig them up and bring to the fall roundup... I know plenty of us going that would love to have more.

*giggle Can't have hostas.... Deer think they are CANDY.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Shoot, my deer eat any & everything if it doesn't have chicken wire around it!
Think I should cash in my SW Airlines, Krispy Kremes, & my oil & gas stock & invest in chicken wire! I think that is the only way I am ever going to have real flower beds...........if they have chicken wire around them!!!
:~)

my deer don't eat EVERYTHING... just LOTS of things.

I dont think I want to dig up the Cannas right now. I got to wait until they blloom so I will know what I have out there. Some didnt bloom for me last year ... they were too compacted. Sharing is no problem ... I can always mail em to ya! :)
If i came I would leave home Saturday morning, its no way I can come after work. :( Its too tiring.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

We'll be there all day Sylvia! Come on down and have some fun and eat a bunch of good food!
