My mother plant has many offsets along the main stems. This is the first year I have ever seen so many.
carolineifolia
This is an wonderful shot. I have grown Carolineifolia before but have never been able to keep it alive during the winter months so it has never grown this big. I am hopeful that this year I won't kill it.
Thanks for sharing,
Daisy
I have owned this for about 4 years now. It usually loses all its leaves in winter but this winter I had it under lights and it did fairly well. I have not had any luck propagating it by leaf but by rhizomes are fairly easy.
I can propogate them by leaf. Usually in the main plants pot. I cut the leaves on the stem in half and leave about 1/2 inch stem on the leaf which will then be inserted in the soil. The cut leaves are laying flat on the soil. I get a 2 out of 5 to root this way. I just started some yesterday, hopefuly the will all root. With all this rain we have been getting lately humidity is very high and that should help.
That is pretty good if you get 40% success with leaf cuttings for this begonia. Once my offsets are a little larger I may pot them up - they should have a very high success ratio going this route.
