Susspect virus ???.

I am haveing a problem with the warning, illegal opperation this pc will be shut down, and it is too, but it seems to be moving to different functions, each week it for something different, last week it was when ever i clicked on a close box, the other day it was clicking on favourites, today it is trying to sign in to an email, is this a virus, my nortons says it cant find one, but it seems to odd not to be, any suggestions please.
