Feeding time

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

I don't know what kind of birds these are, but I'm sure they are something very common. I saw them the other day and finally got some pics today.

This is one of the adults....I'm assuming the daddy. Here he is getting some food from the feeder.

Here he is again getting ready to fly to the baby.

And here's the baby hiding in the rhododendron right by the feeder.

Ooops...I meant to post this one first. Here he is just getting to the baby and looking out before feeding it.

They finally got scared away by my cat when she jumped into the window. :o( Then I saw the baby in the grass just a few feet away from the rhodie.

Very nice pics ngh!!

They look like House Sparrows. The one in the last pic is a female.

They are not a native bird; brought from Europe many years ago.

Some refer to them as Hosp.

Thank you, Pelletory. :o) It is a lot of fun watching them. The only birds I have seen at our feeder are several of these house sparrows, one gold finch, and several scrub jays. I don't mind though....it's still fun. We put up a hummingbird feeder just the other day. My DH and I were very skeptical that we would ever see any since we are in the city and the feeder is right by our front window. But, just yesterday we saw a hummer come to feed twice. We were very excited to see that!

Thats great mgh!!! I still am waiting to see my regular gang of hummers.

I have lots of things blooming and feeders are out too.

Yep, House Sparrows.

That's a computer code for data entry; every species in North America has been assigned a four-letter code to make data input easier. In Britain, we use two-letter codes for this (even easier - but we're a smaller area, so don't have as many species to deal with); House Sparrow is HS in our code.
