Happy 4th everbody!
We finally got a good downpour last night and it is still raining this morning...........a nice, slow, steady rain. The best kind. I hope it greens the grass back up. I'm thankful for the break in not having to run around watering all my container plants.
Do any of you plant a patriotic garden with red, white and blue? I'd love to see pics if you have them. At one time I had thought of doing something along those lines around my flagpole but wound up doing something totally different. I had bought a wisteria vine on impulse (not a good idea) last summer. I came home and looked around knowing it needed a super strong support and the only place I could find to plunk it was at the base of the flagpole. I have read in the past the wisteria is hard to get to bloom and thrive so I really didn't expect it to do anything. Low and behold this year it actually bloomed! I couldn't believe my eyes. Well, I knew then it could not climb up the flagpole or I wouldn't be able to raise and lower the flag. duh!!! I went out and bought a white vinyl arch trellis and am training it over onto that. I put a cement birdbath inside the trellis and hung a windchime inside of it. Looks nice but it's not red white and blue like I had originally planned for. I don't dare move it or I'll jinx it and it will never bloom again. Funny how things work out isn't it? Buying one plant on impulse changes the whole landscape of my yard. One thing leading to another. It better not croak now after going to all this trouble. ha ha ha
So, is anyone planning a family get together or bar-b-que? My hubby still works downstate and it's too far to come for one day so he's actually working today. I have no plans to do anything other than watch the rain. If it fairs off this afternoon I may get together with the grandbaby for a visit.
Have a happy 4th everyone!

Happy Fourth of July Everyone!!
Happy 4th to you too Brenda. We were planning a family get together at my cousins house. She lives on a lake and it would have been fun. But, she posponed it till Saturday. The rain coming would have made things too messy to have a party today.
Happy 4th Everyone! It's raining beautiful steady rain here too. We needed this so much. All of our rain dances must have worked! We're driving down to my son's for a belated birthday party for my 1 year old granddaughter today. Saturday we having a big family reunion at my DH's cousin's in Caro. Saturday sounds like it's going to be a great day for family parties!
Changing the subject briefly....remember when we were talking about deer in our garden last winter/early spring on another threat. I'd been so worried about the 30 deer that seemed perched on my new hosta bed, just waiting for them to grow. Hadn't seen any on it in the last couple months. Everything was growing beautifully. Hostas looking great. Then one day last week I found a few bites out of a couple. Got out the liquid fence and covered everything hoping to provide some deterrant. Well, yesterday my DH found our neighbors peacock in the bed snacking on a hosta! And here I'd been blaiming the deer. He was shown the way home, but we will have to keep an eye out...as he's apparently developed a taste for hosta!;)
Happy 4th of July!
