yes after it falls off it should start making a seed pod if it was pollenated

Donna - I can't believe you got a tiny little bloom on this new baby vine! That is incredible!!! Loved the photos in the other link of you baby plant! That's really something!!! :-)

That is quick, Donna. I'm almost tempted to ask if you want to trade me some of your garden soil. LOL The light, temperature, soil, everything it needed to bloom was perfect.

I am using Miracal Grow Shake n Feed Bloom Booster time released fertilizer and Sta Green Potting soil from Lowes. The A. Gibertii I grew from seed at the same time is about 6' tall. I need to bump it from the 1/2 gal pot to a 2 or 3 gal pot and make a trellis for it. It should really take off then.

Way cool Donna!!!

That looks very much like the native swanflower (a. erecta) the pipevine swallowtails use here....but the leaves resemble blades of grass which make it extremely hard to find in the back fields. I really must look for some and sow the seeds...the pipevine swallowtails are always in abundance.

Do you leave it in a pot year round for the butterflies?

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Yes it will stay in the hanging basket and come in for winter. It is small like the A. Fimbriata

I have the grandiflora growing in the greenhouse and it never has seeded. guess that would be because it's in the greenhouse.

I planted some outside this year hopefully they'll come back next year.

the watsonii is cool looking.
