Those make large blooms, don't they. Comparing the bloom to the leaf. I can't wait to get my seeds started. Great picture!

Adrienne if it sets seed it will make a pod where the flower was on the end of the stem

Do you have pictures? So the flower falls off? Then a pod forms?

Wow! What a specimen! Very interesting!

I think that is the coolest thing I have ever seen Donna. It looks like you have it on a pretty strong trellis. I suppose it requires such a stout trellis as huge as those blooms are. Thanks for sharing. It is beautiful.

DonnaB ..
I was totally unfamiliar with the plant, till just now ..
(Yep, I had to go look it up!)

The appearance of the flowers in the image, look as tho' they've been painted with that special type of spray paint, that develops the 'crackled(?)' effect as it dries .. (hee)

Tis an absolute beauty of the giant Dutchmens Pipe blooms!

Adrienne my flowers just fell of and have more new blooms. Waiting to see if it makes pods. Will post a pic if it does

Oh today is gonna be a good day I think lol. Was out looking at my Antheraea cats and noticed a seed pod on my A. Watsonii that is in a hanging basket off the screened porch. I never saw it bloom. I looked closely and there are little tiny blooms yea!!!!!!!!! The plant is only 5 months old grown from seed. Can't believe it is blooming already. At least I know I will have a few seeds to share hopefully

That is a cool plant - I never found one but will have to get my hands on one! I have the regular Dutchman's Pipevine, and love it. Very unique looking, and seems to be easy to grow from seed - I have lots of sprouts popping up.
