Okay, I give up. I have a small container water garden, and today I discovered APHIDS on the forget-me-nots. I don't have access to a hose to wash them off. Can somebody help me figure out how to get rid of them?
Aphids on aquatic forget-me-nots
Thought I'd bring this back up to the top.
Submerge the plant and swish it around to rinse off the aphids. I had them on my papyrus this year. . Do you have goldfish? If so they should really enjoy a meal of aphids. If you are not afraid of squishing them, you could also put the affected leaves between paper towels and mash the leaves with your fingertips. You should not damage the leaves but you will kill the aphids. The good thing about water plants is that if you have a problem one year, it usually does not recur since everything dies back in the winter and does not provide a home for the bugs.
tetley, thanks for the tips. What I did was prune the aphid-infested leaves. That should help, and the forget-me-nots should just get fuller.
