I asked Dave to make the search feature give the option to only search the titles of threads instead of the whole thread - and he did it! You can now choose to search through the titles only or through the body of posts. How cool is Dave?
Dave made me a new search feature!
Your networking skills must be better than I gave you credit for.
Nah! Sometimes the rainbow bird of bright sits on my head by accident. It Is a good idea, no?
Hey - I noticed that last night! Thanks Cat - it's very useful. Combine it with the member name and you should be able to find anything you remember seeing. Thanks Dave!!
I'm looking for a button that says 'AYankeeCat' LOL
anyway, great idea. thanks AYC and Dave!
Maybe we can all get our own buttons!!
Victor - you already have buttons and Al and Dave47 push them all the time! *evil chuckle*
Really - Da Dave is a brilliant programmer! He needs feedback from the users to think of new, useful things to create.
I love this, but I can't figure out the logic of how they are entered. Not by most recent or by forum and most recent. Am I yet again confused? I would love to be able to resort it by date or forum. So, work your magic with Dave, Ayankeecat, as I have been requesting some things, but I don't seem to have your pull. Patti
bbrookrd - I tried a search and I don't see a logic to the pull - it might just be random. (I'm a really, really low level programmer myself so I hope I have some skill in doing good guesses about how things are done.) I actually put the request in for this change in the middle of May - so things just take time. This was an easy one - I think - for Dave to do, he just added a piece to the script that said something like "look for this/these words with or without a tag that says title" or something like that.
I understand exactly what you are asking for - sorting by column header. I think it is a really good idea and would be very useful. I don't have a clue as to how "hard" it would be to do and how much it would slow up the website in general. Now that we have this new search feature - try your request again asking for sorting by the column headers for the new search feature. Once Dave does the code for one section - he might even add it for everything. :)
I took credit for this tongue-in-cheek. It might be that 100 others asked for it too!
Uh oh Yankee - time to come down off yor cloud, your Wallingford made the news here for banning silly string. One of your cats is named for that town isn't it?
Yup, and he is King of the Nah-Nahs. We have so many problems in Connecticut - banning silly sting is just - well - silly.
There's one that I requested but Dave has not yet done. Even after clicking and viewing an updated thread from your thread watcher, if you go back to your homepage, you are told that the watched forum that the thread is part of, has a new post. In fact, it's the same one you just read. This is not a big deal - I just ignore it now. Also, it's only an 'issue' if it was only that one thread that was changed - not any others in the forum.
I always hit the refresh button to update when I go to the home page.
That doesn't change it. I just verified that with this thread - last one I looked at in my updated thread watcher. Went back to the homepage. Saw New for NE Forum. Refreshed - still New!!
You need serious string I think then Nah Nah.
Victor, Don't use the "back" arrow. Instead, click on NE Forum or home.
Silly string is out. So was the too punny string and the gooft string.
Smirking string is still available.
I always use Return to Home page.
Huh? I think the only time I get that option is after I send a Dmail.
Or post. If I don't post, I just click Dave's Garden to bring me back.
Do other people have Victor's problem?
(Talk about your openings!)
I notice that happening every once in awhile - but not consistently. It could be the browsers we are running as well as the DG script. I don't know anything about internet script - to try and even guess. Maybe Gram would know, if you can get her out of her garden.
RE Victor: Let's hope not!
When it happens to me, I realize that I mistakenly hit the back arrow.
It happens to me every time. Terry told me they knew of the problem and Dave would eventually fix it. Didn't sound like it was browser specific. I use Firefox.
I use IE and it happens just every once in awhile.
Victor, it happens to me every time now, too. didn't used to. and it's not brower specific. I use IE.
Maybe I infected you?!!
