It looks like you've got Monarch Cats. They're on Milkweed, right? Nice plant!!

Thanks, Adrienne. That's what I thought they were was Monarchs and yes they are on Milkweed plants.

My milkweed leaves do not look like that. Are there different kinds? I have small, thin leaves. Thanks. Oh and I bought the plants just hoping for some Monarch cats. Congrats.

yea Donna, You go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are they on the Calotropis or one of the others from seed/seedlings I gave you

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Donna I havesome fresh Aristolochia seeds for Pipevine Swallowtails if you want some. Be happy to get some out to you. The Fimbriata make great hanging basket which would be easy for you to over winter

Congrats on the Monarch cats. They look nice and plump :o) ...and if you only found six...you aren't looking very hard. Take my word for it...there's gotta be gobs more. Hope you have plenty of milkweed!!!

DonnaB the milkweed is one that is hardy to my area. I would luv to try some of the A. fimbriata especially if it makes a great hanging basket and hopefully easy to overwinter...lol.

Cat the aristolochia elegans finally decided to stop sulking and grow. Can't wait to see it flower.

Donna,

Ah, so glad to hear the a. elegans is starting to grow again. I see you have it in a pot. Good way to keep it reined in and moveable if the weather gets bad. Mine has long since reached the top of a nearby telephone pole :o) Never did cut it back. That one I sent you was blooming when I dug it up...and my vine is already going to seed again. Hopefully you'll be able to get some blooms and seed pods before your winter season arives.

Ya know ,,,,, my pipevine seedlings seem to be sulking, too. I wonder if they spend a lot of time as seedling growing their roots before they finally take off above ground?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Cat, keep your fingers crossed for me!

Becky, I had started a pipevine seed last year in February and by the end of the year it was the same size and than I lost it.

Well, hopefully with my warmer zone, it will eventually take off. I actually have 4 seedlings all clumped together with just their first leaves still. Though looking at them today, it does look like one of them has larger leaves finally. Time will tell. I guess good things are worth waiting for! :-)

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Definitely with your warmer weather it should grow gangbusters!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

keep them a little on the dry side. I lost a bunch of seedlings too but the survivors did better after I backed off on watering them as much

Gosh...the plants are really taking off here. We've had a bit of rain so that has helped. Now if only the 100 temps would stay away. Which by the way, all the plants I got from ButterfliesEtc. as liners are doing extremely well. The passifloras that had main tendrils 8"-10" long are well over six feet...and it's only been two months :o) Come on butterflies...I want some ZLTs!!!
