a hoya bug like a seed with white featherlike tail

Davison, MI(Zone 5a)

I remember seeing a thread on this forum somewhere, can't find it. Does this bug hurt the hoya's? Anyone know what it is called? It is very tiny - looks like a tiny dark ball (seed) with a white feathery tail and tiny legs (They like my tanna island I'm trying to root outside) I'm afraid to spray it until the roots get bigger. These bugs are starting to find other plants in the area though. I moved the houseplants out of the area & sprayed area with systemic (roses, shrubs, rocks even wood poles suporting the deck overhead.
Hate to bayer systemic the hoya's & epies if these are harmless bugs or safer soap will take care of them.

straight alcohol with do it topically. Bayers TS won't hurt them at all...and it is really effective!!!

I would always try Safers first, it may be more of a hassle to repeat every few weeks if you have to, but so many insect problems are easy to control this way. I bring out the heavy duty artillery (major chemicals)only as a last resort....or with scale.

I've seen one live one on tanna again, scince I sprayed the area. I'll try safers first. Thankyou all, again.
