I pruned all the bottom branches and all branches I didn't like. This took a few years.

Thanks for posting this pic. I have sort of a barren south-west corner at the back of my house that I considered planting a Black Knight Buddleia in, but I wasn't sure how it would look. Now I know it will look great. It will be next to some lantanas, so I'm sure I will be attracting pleanty of butterflies and humming birds.
