Ha-ha.......First off.....is a Pineapple considered a Bromeliad? If it is, what is the general care? A really sweet friend sent me one and I want to take proper care of it. Thank you all in advance for any and all help.
And.....there are some really gorgeous plant pictures on this forum. These have to win the award for the most unusual plants. How fun when they bloom!!!

question.....please don't laugh
Yes, the Pineapple is a Bromeliad, Ananas comosus. The commercial varieties are selected cultivars. Unlike the majority of Bromeliads, the Pineapple is a terrestrial and grows well along with most other tropicals. In humid conditions the plants can take full sun as long as they are well watered. Fertilize just like any other tropical fruit producer.
Thank you so much Dave. I appreciate the tips. When I have more time, I might come back to this forum and educate myself. Again, thank you for the help.
