New pictures of the girls

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Took some new pictures yesterday. They're not singing - they were panting a little from the heat.

The white one above of course isn't a girl. That's Buck, the white leghorn rooster.

This is Fussbudget, one of the Ameraucanas.

Sweetcheeks, the other Ameraucana.

This is Kiwi. Both of the brown leghorns have taken forever to get their tail feathers. Emu has finally gotten hers but Kiwi still looks like a kiwi.

Sorry about the lack of focus. She's never still long enough to get a good picture.

Your girls are beautiful, and Fussbudget is a handsome guy. My ameraucan chicks are getting so big, and man do they eat a lot. I though I had 2 roosters, but now I'm thinking only one. Only one is crowing. Can you believe I got 7 hens and 1 roo through incubating my own eggs. Last year we hatched all roosters, this year mostly girls. Thank God.

No eggys hatched today maybe tonight..

Thanks, y'all. Fussbudget is a girl, though. The only roo is Buck. Crow, the black austrolorpe, managed to only have her tail in the pictures, and Buffy the buff brahma and Scratch, the other wyandotte, were camera shy too.

Silly question - is a barred rock the same thing as a barred plymouth rock?

I have 4 new chickens and they look a lot like your Ethel and Lucy but I'm not sure what kind they are.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

They do look like they're singing
How cute!!!!

does Kiwi have pin feathers for the tail?
Just curious
Every few years I would hatch a rumpless polish
Now thats a really silly looking bird!!!
But it hasn't happened since I got rid of my large fowl WC Blues.......
just curious about the rumpless gene

Oh what a beautiful flock! Everyone of them looks so pretty and happy! Yep! We have the singing Chicken thing going on here too! Whats really funny is the way they walk around with their wings stuck out and their mouths open , cooling it!
I'll have to get a few pictures of my nearly grown babies for Y'all too! Now that the temps are so high they rarely come out of the shade of the barn, or they go to the wooded side of the yard and stay under the bushes.
Your a good Chickie parent Hart!

Yes, that's the same as the barred plymouth rock. There are also Dominiques, which have similar markings. You might want to check out the pictures of both at feathersite.com.

Kiwi has about four long tail feathers that point down. Emu had the same until she finally got enough feathers there to have a normal looking chicken tail so I hope Kiwi will eventually look like a regular chicken.

I'll bet a rumpless Polish is a really strange looking chicken! LOL

They have plenty of shade up there and they were only doing the panting the one day but I'm sure they're glad it has cooled down today. I know I am. LOL

Hart,
How are they today?
It's raining here and the eggys have a peep in them.. They are still tilited at th pointy end.
When will they hatch???

It's been raining here all day too, Tracey. It's been really muggy all day but not so hot, thank goodness. The chickens are all fine.

So exciting that the eggs are peeping! I've never hatched eggs so I don't know how soon. Want me to look it up for you?
