Would any of you have any colored butterfly bush seeds you would be willing to trade? I would love to trade if you would be interested in anything I have listed. Thanks
CLOSED: Butterfly Bush Seeds
I have yellow seeds
i have them blooming but dont know how/where the seeds are sorry
The seeds on mine just popped out. They are on a pod that I didn't see until it had turned brown and openned. I gathered it and as many seeds as I could save. I guess they all do that, but just guessing.
Anne
Thank you AuntAnne, yellow would be great. Will Dmail you for info.
I have some of the multi colored red/orange ones and just got a pink butterfly bush but doenst have any flowers/seeds yet.
AngelG1111, I would love a few of the red/orange ones if you have any to spare.
Red/orange? Hmmmm I've never seen one of those.
Do they all get that seed pod? I never seen it on my bushes
Don't know about pods, I was surprised to see the one that I did. Didn't know to look for it. BTW this is my first experience with BF bushes lol
Yeah ..... y'all got me curious now. Could someone post a photo of their plant or link from PlantFile of what you have. I must be confused about what "Butterfly Bush" we are talking about. I'm thinking Buddleja davidii. ('Tri-color' has orange eyes, but not orange flowers.) And I have never seen a seed "pod" on mine, so I have no idea how it produces seeds either.
Inquiring minds want to know! :-)
I think there may be some confusion between butterfly bush (buddeja) and butterfly "weed". I have collected buddeja seeds before but have never had luck germinating them. On the flower stem, were all the tiny little flowers are lined up, after the flowers are spent, where each one was, a tiny little seed pod forms. (Hope there are no English teachers looking at that gawd awful sentence). Mine took a good long while to turn brown and dry out.
Might be easier to try to root a stem.

Ok maybe I'm confused. I'll go take pics tomorrow (raining now). Mine sounds like butterfly weed. Pretty and a small bush but I'll take pictures.

I checked the propagation book I use (Plants A Plenty) and it says that
" seeds do not always come true but if sown as soon as they ripen they will sprout. Cuttings root easily using either soft or hardwood."
Sounds like your right blpender.
Don't know why I didn't check the book first... *lol* Thanks! :-)
