to callous or not to callous?

please take this survey if you have time. i want to know how people go about rooting "fresh" cuttings. for the sake of the survey fresh is considered less than one day old. and the verb callous refers to the actual production of callous tissue. you can give as much explanation as you think necessary.

a) do you start rooting cuttings immediately (i.e. 12 hours or less)?
b) do you wait a day or two for the cut to dry?
c) do you wait for the cutting to callous (i.e. actually produce callous tissue)?

I usually wait a few days to a week.
So.... I guess thats a "B" answer.

I find that with very large cuttings it is less important to wait. So those I stick in the ground immediately. Others I give a week to ten days.

A Back in 1997 in think at the request of the lady who wanted her 7 to 9 foot Celadines cut back from hitting her soffitt and i got all the cutting with the exception of a few which she wanted just stuck into the dirt and she said "they will grow" and half did.
I do it now sometimes in the spring as per the amount of latex dripping.Some will drip for hours and some are relatively dry

C I lost a cutting once and couldn't find it and couldn't find it.Some months went by and was weeding at the back of one of the beds some of my plumeria are in,there it was lying on it's side .The cut end calloused over and roots going into the soil from the side of the cutting.I transplanted to a pot and it grew up rather nicely as I remember.

Have done B and C. Had luck with both! Tried A once without any success.

i do mostly (b) myself. i am finding that (a) is going well with the kitty litter experiment.

I do B unless I forget about it then its C :) Ummm sorta afraid to ask but what is the kitty litter experiment? Is there a thread somewhere on this?
