Looking for bright red bee balm for postage.
Kathy
wanted: red beebalm
I may have some but I'd rather wait until it blooms to be sure. It's new to me.

I have some too, it's supposed to be Panama Red, but it hasn't bloomed yet; and I'm looking for more, so I hope to get some seed from mine if and when they bloom. If you like you can contact me later for seed, they're easier to grow than transplanted plants, I think. Although my plants survived the trip from Canada, the ones I rec'd locally from Oregon died from a virus, they're not quite as hardy as I'd hoped.

Carrie,
Let me know if you have any to share, if they are bright red. They are very hardy in VA.
Kathy
I will, but how will I remember???
You sound like me. I'll try to remember.
kathy
They're starting to bloom, and they look a lot redder than we expected, which is good, right? We definitely have too much. Do you have anything good to trade? Oh, you said for postage.

What are you looking for? I moved here in Aug (1910 home) and there were 2 small trees - 1 pussy willow, 1 rose of sharon. The front yard has 2 pear trees. I had to buy/trade everything. I'm rooting pussywillows and have rose of sharon but don't know her colors yet. There are several here.
Bee Balm spreads like crazy. If you don't have anything for postage or like my available trades it's okay. We may do a trade next Summer.
Kathy
I would love to have a pussywillow! My Monarda better not spread too much.

Kathy, I'm not sure where you live in VA, but I didn't want you to miss my recent thread on the MidAtlantic forum about a fall plant swap at my place... I'll post a thread for plant haves/wants closer to the date... I've got some Monarda in a pot that I'm pretty sure is a bright red one (can't remember the name offhand, but it's a common one), but I'll know for sure when it blooms. I'm planning to set it out in our little orchard area, and I'm sure I'll be able to get a nice division for you at the end of summer. If you can't make it to the swap, I can send you a piece for postage around then... please Dmail me to remind me!
Carrie, do you want a small (4") start or wait a couple weeks for a 2' start?
kathy
Whoops! That pot sure is labeled 'Jacob Kline' (a bright red variety), but it started blooming pale lavender! Hmmm, I wonder what is growing in that pot.... LOL
I'm glad it sounds like Carrie has you covered, Kathy!
LOL sounds like a mixed up tag!
Carrie, do you want the small starts or wait for larger ones?
kathy
Er.... I labeled it myself, and now I am thinking that 'Jacob Kline' was in that pot at one time (I swear it bloomed red last year!), but possibly the pot was taken over by a "volunteer" this spring. LOL
My husband doesn't seem thrilled by pussy willow idea. Let's wait and see, ok? Or you can owe me one. Besides he seems to think ALL the beebalm has to bloom before he'll be willing to share any of it. (!)
xx, Carrie
LOL - no problem. I promise, the Beebalm will triple by next year. It's vey invasive in many areas.
