I'M LOOKING FOR MALAY GINGER

Delray Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

Hi.

Since I saw them in Hawai'i, I am looking to acquire malay ginger (pictured below). Also, if I would like to open a bed of torch gingers. Does anyone know of a good place to buy those gingers?

I live in a suburb of Fort Lauderdale (FL) but I am not allergic to driving a reasonable distance or resorting to mail order to obtain a coveted specimen.

Thanks to everyone.
Sylvain.

Have you looked to see if these people have what you want? They have such an extensive catalog.

Thank you for your help. Yes, their catalog is extensive.

They mention etlingera venusta but their picture doesn't match mine. However, I have found a supplier around here that may very well have it. I will be going there tomorrow afternoon.

I will keep you posted as to the result of my search.
Thank you.

If you had not found any success, try Ebay. I found mine from a seller in Hawaii. His Ebay id is "Gasum".
Good luck!

I have visited that supplier around here that may have stocked the etlingera venusta. They had some kind of ginger in 5-gallon pots, unlabelled, potbound and $50 each. The sales lady wanted to sell them so bad, I thought something was fishy and left them there.

The clincher that caused me to leave is when she said that etlingera venusta and etlingera eliator (red torch ginger) were one and the same plant. I told myself "Feet, don't fail me now" and we exited right there and then. I will try that E-bay tip.

Thanks.
Sylvain.
