Can a double change to a single?

I have a Celia double red that I picked up at HD last year. It had gorgeous fully double blooms last year, and even the first flush of blooms this year was double. But now it's on its second flush of blooms, and the flowers are all coming out singles. Any idea why that might be? I'm really more of a double flower gal, especially on the solid color hibiscus so I'd really like to get it back to doubles. Could it just need fertilizer? I've been busy with the garden this year so I've been lazier than usual about fertilizing my containers.

I'm not familiar with Celia, but my Rosalind sometimes blooms as a double and sometimes as a single. I've also had both types blooming at the same time.

Same for Allure.

Yes, true as well. I've had both on Allure too. I think Love Story also blooms both ways...

Hi

There are several that will bloom as both a double and a single and some will only go to a crested single. Rosalind often goes from single to crested double. Fireworks spends more time as a single than double as does Mon Ami. Weird isn't it?

Oh well, guess there's nothing to do but wait then and hope it goes back to being double! I never realized that they would do that, figured I'd done something wrong with it.
