You can do a search on the butterflies and moths website to locate a particular species or see what should be found in your area using the map search.

Well, there ya go! You've got one fine ZST on your butterfly bush! That didn't take long, did it? And a fine photo, too!

Got to thinking...isn't that something!!! Here we usually get the regular run of the mill butterflies in our yard. Probably 99 times out of 100 the first butterfly to show up is a sulphur...and you get a huge Zebra Swallowtail!!! Life just ain't fair :o)

Congrats again. You really should looking into getting their larval hosts - before you know it you'll be sharing photos of eggs and cats too and raising caterpillars like the rest of us.

I would love to. I have been reading the threads on this website to see how to get started. I only have one milkweed. I planted it last year it is still small.

Ct...you can hop on the seed or plant trading forum and do some trades. I would send you seeds if I had any but I gathered up everything in Spring and tossed it out in the back pastures of the ranch. And seems everytime I notice a seed pod it's already been eaten as well. Caterpillars are voracious little creatures :o)

A few internet companies will offer free seeds for a SASE too....so you might browse through the seed company sites.

Congrats on the Zebra Swallowtail. That is a beauty. This is my first year to grow Butterfly Bush (I have 3 - Dark Knight, Nanho Blue, Yellow), and they really are a butterfly magnet. Thanks for sharing your ZSW with us.
