Sorry to be so long getting around to this!
Ginny (Inanda) arrived on the Thursday, spent time with friends and came to my home on Friday. Lynn and Ann (Jagonjune and Annabelle) arrived Saturday morning. Our first stop was a private tour of Rundlewood Gardens. This is a small home based nursery in an old residential area of Calgary. It is a pie shaped lot (point at the front) surrounded with lovely old trees and a fabulous shade garden in the front. The back which slopes goes from a rock garden at the house to a bog to a sun and shade garden. Most of what they sell they grow in their garden so you can see it in situ! Rod Shaver gave us a wonderful tour of the gardens which they started developing about 15 years ago. And of course we bought plants!
I dont have any pics ( forgot the camera and Ginny ran out of memory!) Lynn or Ann do you have any?
After a brief stop at my house to let Lynn's lovely 10 week old GSD out and another brif stop at SpruceMeadows for June to order her special boots (did they come yet June?) we descended on Greengate Garden Center and bought more plants!
In the evening we walked over to my friend Joey Stewart's house. This remarkable house is sunk 12 feet into the ground with light puring in from skylights and distributed all around the house by internal windows - in every room, even the bathrooms! The house is filled with Joey's remarkable pottery. The garden is equally remarkable and makes wonderful use of stone and Joey's art work.
This is the waterfall in the backyard.
We came back to my house for a potluck supper - Joey, her husband Lorne and my friend Jennifer joined us and we had a pleasant evening.
Prairie Round up report and a few pics
Sounds like you all had a wonderful time. Wish we in the east would have a Round up....
Sunday morning we headed over to the Reader Rock Garden for brunch and a walk about. This garden was originally the work of the first parks super. William Reader and he had hundreds of plants from all over the world. After his death the gardens fell into disarray and have recently been restored by the city with the help of many volunteers.
Theresa(Violist) back from her daughters graduation in Boston, joined us in the afternoon with a tray of plants to trade . Lynn and Ann had also brought plants and Ginny had bags of iris! And so it was over and Lynn and Ann headed back to Edmonton. Ginny took off for Victoria Monday morning ( Ginny you really did sneak out quietly didnt you -not even the dogs heard you!) with 2 large Mytke containers stuffed with plants - hope they made it home OK GInny - to visit family and go to the Denham Island Roundup.
This is Carol ( and Fancy), Theresa and Ginny
Does Joey do garden tours? I would pay admission to see that garden! Is that the neighbor who made your mirrors? The stone table reminds me of the one in the Narnia books..... Thanks for posting the photos Carol. You forgot to mention the great photos of Chelsea we got to see. Inanda, did you have a great time camping?
Theresa

Carol did an excellent job of aranging and getting us into special places, Rod's and Joey's!
I am now into starting a Hen and Chick collection, Yikes more plants. My Hubby hasn't noticed them yet, which is a good thing. I'll be able to say they were there all the time and he just didn't see them.
