Codonanthe sp. in a basket!

The Heart of Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

I went to Lowe's last night with hubby to get a few things we needed, as always I had to stroll over the garden shop and I was really surprised to find this.
It's very healthy but not well labeled... and not in bloom either~it's tag says it's a Codonanthe sp.... but not which one.
It will be a challenge to keep it alive long enough for it to bloom and ID it..
Maybe Key will have a hint???

Thanks for looking...the Lowe's here leaves a lot to be desired...they have mostly ivy's in hanging baskets so I was pleased to find something a lil different.
They do carry the little plants by Exotic Angel in the small pots for my terrariums which I love. I picked up a few of those, too.

That's beautiful, MsC! Congratulations on such a great find! Hang it outside and maybe it will bloom for you soon. :o)

I kinda already know Key's gonna say for me to buy it an umbrella...lol
Wonder if it needs any fertilizer or if it'll bloom on it's own???

I checked some of the pics on the web to see if I could match it up and they are all pretty lil creamy fllowers so Iguess it really doesn't matter.
I know one named Paula was a nice pink...that would be good.:)

LOL about the umbrella!

I'm so dumb. I read it as Columnea, not Codonanthe, so now that I've figured out what it actually is, I'm even more impressed than before! LOL I've got two small Codonanthes that bloom pretty easily, and most of the time I forget to fertilize. That probably doesn't help you a bit. :o/ One of mine is Paula and they really are pretty blooms.

I find the online "click and ship" to be the same as it was on the USPS site. I love that feature. When you print and pay for postage online, the delivery confirmation is free. I have a little scale here at home and I always weigh and print out my shipping labels. I just use plain white paper for the labels, Cut them out and apply with clear packing tape. I keep a supply of Priority Mail boxes on-hand. If you don't ship often, then it all might not be worth it.

The postman picks up the boxes from my house so I don't even have to go to the postoffice which is a blessing in itself.

Thanks! I'll be in touch....

Nice find! I think I'll have to check out Lowes and HD soon.... I believe I am out of potting mix, lol.

I grow mine dry but I know some people grow theirs wet. (They seem to develop thicker leaves when grown dry.) I've seen them hanging in fairly high light as well, although I grow mine with the AVs. I'm not good at fertilizing, either.....
