Saw this one is a nursery recently. It was grown as a standard and was a most unhealthy and unattractive plant. There was hardly any foliage but the flowers were so pretty.
ID ?
Hib albo lacinatus an old old hybrid from Hawaii.
Kyle, you're my hero! Thanks
Now I may have to go back and make an offer on this pitiful specimen; I love the older varieties.
If fed it will get larger leaves but they will always grow kind droopy sprawly etc.Its the nature of the beast.
This one was tall, well over 6' and would make a great background plant in the right spot.
ardesia, my mom wants me to take her to NC to see her GDs & their children. She is 83 & will be 84 before I can take her next yr.
She wants me to drive her. If I can, can we come see you & get a cutting?
My mom is just now getting into plants & I think it is wonderful @ her age. Takes the place of the Gchildren I could never give her.
I'm serious! So think b4 you answer!
Of course, I will be stopping @ every DGer I can find between here & N NC. Just for the friendship & visitation. My mom will love it!!!
What a wonderful trip that sounds like; your Mom will love it.
I do not have the hibiscus pictured above and do not know if it was even for sale. The nursery where I saw it is a couple hours from here but I will ask when I get there again. However, I have lots of other hibiscus and would love to share cuttings with you. I think stopping to visit other DG'ers will be a blast.
What area in NC are going to?
brical1, yes, they are the same but the correct name is Albo Lacinatus.
Regards
Carlos
