There starting to grow! WooHoo.First is Smithianthia Texas Freckles.I planted the 2 rhrizones in the same pot.
Update on the rhizone bingo box
Diastema vexans has a little green coming up and Phinaea ecuadorana is taking it sweet old time.
Thank Ki for a great bingo box:)
Those are great, jannich! You will love growing them. Congratulations! I didn't know about planting the scales like seed.
Oh, I have so much to learn...........you are quite a grower, jannich........
That owner of that African violet store in Boerne ,Texas showed me how he takes his pocket knife and scrapes the sides of the stems of every leaf he puts down..........I have just started doing that. We will see how much faster the leaf puts out babies.........
I assume you scratched the rhizomes, jan?????
Those are fabulous, Jan! I don't have any Kohlerias, but with all the pictures of them lately, I think I need to get one (or more! LOL). Please keep us posted on their progress, as I can't wait to see them bloom!
Good to see the Smithiantha worked as well.. Wasn't it the wierd above-ground rhizome I sent?
I find that the Phinaea rhizomes have a very long rest period, so keep it watered and it should sprout one day... I've dried out some pots of them, so now I try to keep my dormant phinaea pots in a place where they are bound to get watered with another green plant. I used to bag them but I'm getting lazier by the day....
I found the thought of taking some of the scales off and planting them like seeds so interesting jannich. I can see breaking the rhizome into pieces but actually being able to scrape off the scales and still get a plant? How interesting and how clever to give it a try! :))
And along with the others you have is the Texas Freckles Keyring was talking about on a different thread. Evidently hard to come by and there you have two nice pots of it coming up! And the blooms when they come are just beautiful! Lucky you!!

Thank you!
I would never have known about the scales.Ki told me about doing that. It's pretty neat trying differnt things.
Yes Ki,the smithiantha,you did say was above-ground.Interesting.
Amy you don't have a Kohleria yet?Well..... I will have to fix that.LOL.
That is so neat about the scales! If this Diastema ever grows up, I'll try scraping some of the scales off of it.
Jan, I didn't have a Kohleria until yesterday. I got not one, but two boxes yesterday from a couple of Garden Angels, each of whom I just can't thank enough, and one of them contained a beautiful Kohleria 'Nicole's Smile'. I just cannot get over how sweet and generous everyone on our little AV forum is! I'm going to take some pictures today, and I'll post them in a thread later. :o) Those boxes came at the perfect time, as I needed some cheering up! :o)
On another note, you do so well with Sinningias, Jan, that once mine get a little bigger, I'd like to send you some cuttings from them.
I had 2 garden angel boxs come too.And it came at a good time for me too!
Amy, Thank you.I love Sinningias! Whenever you want a Kolheria Dark Walnut let me know I have a nice rooted cutting.
Daves is a wonderful place.
Isn't it funny how they arrive at just the right time? :o) I was awfully down, but they cheered me right up! :o)
You'll have to let me know what Sinns. you've got. Or maybe it would be easier if I let you know which ones I have. LOL I don't have too many, maybe 6 or 7. I just looked and forgot that I had a few cuttings down already. I'll check them in a bit and see how they're doing. I might be able to send you rooted cuttings! :o) Do you have Sinn. 'Tinkerbells'? I love that one!
Hi Amy,I only have a few Sinn. I have seeds down for almost 3 months now but no green yet. I had others down to but knocked the cup over and I have no hope for them coming up.LOL.
I have to check and see what i can trade ya
I saw a picture of Tinkerbells and would lovvvvvve a cutting.
