Hi everyone! I don't know if you are interested in hardy Hibiscus or not, but I thought I would post a picture of a Blue Satin bloom.
I just received this plant from Garden Crossings yesterday, and this morning this opened up. I was so excited.
I also got Lavender Chiffon and Luna Red. They also have buds.

Hardy Hibiscus Blue Satin
Lovely delicate color :-)
Hi Kittymom,
I am very interested in Hardys. I am all about perennials, since I have no place to successfully overwinter tender things at this point. (Still waiting on my greenhouse, hint, hint, - DH can you hear me???) I have only one at this point, and it opened its first pretty blooms this morning. I am so glad I planted it right outside my living room window!!
As pretty as it is, I really want some more, different colors. Thanks for posting so I know what to look for!
Check out Garden Crossings. I was really impressed with their selection and then the plants I received were wonderful. Even after FedEx 'losing' the box for a week, they arrived nice and healthy. just think how they would have looked if they had only taken two days like they were supposed to. LOL

That is a very pretty flower. I'd LOVE some. The link you posted doesn't seem to be working though :(
OK, try this
Main menu, go to plant search at the top right, put in hibiscus and it should bring it up, hope hope

Ok, that worked. Wow!!! Too many choices
Hello
Beautiful Blue Satin hibiscus. I just received 5 Blue Satin Rose of Sharon plants. Is my Blue Satin, sold to me as Rose of Sharon, the same as your Hardy? It looks exactly like the same flowering bush.
Also, I was told that Rose of Sharon are poisonous. Is that true? I ask because my cousin feeds her turtle regular hibiscus flowers (turtle's favorite food), and I would like to know if my Rose of Sharon hibiscus flower is Ok for turtles to eat.
Thanks so much!

Wow, I don't know about the poisonous part.
I do believe that the hardy hibiscus is also Rose of Sharon.
I would do some really deep digging to find out before I fed it to them.

Those are beautiful. Let's see, now where could I put more plants., hmmm.
I received a pack of seeds from a member here taken from parent plant Blue Satin.
In many thread conversations, it was determined that the seeds from these are like having children. No one really looks the same or like the parent.
I must say though that a couple of mine come really close to your photo Susan. There's also some white and pinks that came from the same parent. I was told that the seeds most likely came from self pollination since there were no other hibiscus nearby.
Oh yeah, and get this, some are even doubles. Talk about "gene pool recession".
Molly, that is really beautiful! I haven't tried the seeds yet. Not for want of having tons of them. I didn't start any seeds this year except for my MG's and hyacinth beans. I have so so many from round robins and swaps. I sure hope they are good next year.
Maybe I will be good and use them then.
