southeast, NE

For sale - 2 cow/calf pairs, 1 orphan calf, 2 steers, 1 heifer and 1 gomer bull - cheap. They are on the top of my list. I walked up this a.m. and stepped outside and heard a familiar bellar to the south of our place. I looked up towards the road and there was Homer the Gomer. So dh got the 4 wheeler out and drove him home. We then discovered the rest were out too. Luckily they were in the ditch and easy to drive home. We were happy that they didn't get hit or take off in the corn fields not to be found until harvest time. Things were well until I went into the garden to pick some sweet corn. Needless to say, these not so kind descriptive beef animals decided to cut through the garden at some point and pretty much wiped out my sweet corn patch. And our dog, who will bark for hours at rabbits, didn't utter a peep. I know - it could have been worse! (By the way, I was partly to blame for the little escapade.)
