MsC's Sinningia Cybil...lol

The Heart of Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

Here's that silly sinningia that has a multiple personality disorder...I've lovingly called her Cybil...

So far she has had at least 3 different patterned blooms on her...the bottom photo is the mother plant I took a cutting of. I then took several cuttings to make the bowl terrarium she's housed in...there has not been another sinningias in this bowl for it to have come from seeds...so wonder what's up with it?? I do not know the mothers plants name.
1st bloom was very pinkish red ( it was supposed to be PALE pink almost white)
2nd bloom had top two lips pink & then outlined w/yellow throat
3rd bloom same plant same time was white with pink outline like crayon all the way around it and a star shape color pattern...

Wonder what it will do next??? Kinda different & certainly unexpected...

Beautiful as it evolves.

Snow, do you know if maybe it could be reverting back to a parent plant??? Do sinningia's sport like Av's do?Maybe that's why the blooms look different each time it blooms??

Here's a nice close up of the lastest bloom..

Hard to know what causes the natural mutations but that is how so many new varieties come about. I'm thinking of a violet I had called Lyon's Minnie-Haha that sported from it's solid fuschia blossom to a white blossom with a nice fuschia edge. The sport was much more attractive than the original and bloomed true to the sport from leaves.

Your latest blossom is lovely. Must be fun to see what it will be next.

It is fun to watch it kinda change before my eyes...but I thought I was loosing it ...I know I need new glasses but changing color & pattern on the same plant at the same time aren't that common...

my first thought was that it was just the natural progression of the flower maturing...like some of the Angel Trumpets...they start out white & can be yellow or orange when they finish..but far as I know they always have the same markings..lol

I have a seed pod forming on it now & maybe I can get it before it drops...wonder what it will bring forth???

It's very pretty all the ways it's blooming, MsC. I love the latest bloom! Just doesn't make sense, does it? With them all being in the same terrarium, conditions must be the same, so who knows. It's fun to anticipate what the next one will look like, though! Be sure to snatch up that seed pod! It will be very interesting to see what you get out of it!

Karen,
I used a Photo program called MGI Photo Suite...there are others & you may have one on your computer...they are a lot of help doing things like this & fun to play with too.
I did it in the projects ( greeting cards, buttons, etc) area.

Thank you Mrs C...

Ever since I got my new digital camera, I have been looing at getting some good photo shop-type software and doing more with my photos...

But, can't afford it right now, cause I've been spending too much on plants!

Hehe!

those are some nice variations!
I think it is sporting - I would guess the parent plant has a nice mix of genes..... Some Sinningia hybrids do not come true from stem cuttings, so perhaps you have one of those.

WHAT???!!!!
So I bet the seeds it's going to throw are going to be REAL interesting..LOL

Wouldn't you know I'd pick the one "free" pink one and it won't prop true...
I didn't drown it~ I didn't over fertilize it~ I didn't kill it...

Amazing ...lol
