RED Flare

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Yesterday we rec'd an order from TWL and were pleased to see lots of buds on the plants. We never expected to see this, this morning, though.

dang
they send blooming size tropicals???
I guess I gotta order some

All three we ordered had buds on them and large leaves.

The red in this one is really much deeper - it looks pink in the photo.

I bought one from the worst place, not TWL. Nice, large, healthy night blooming water lily. But I have recently been told that it is NOT Red Flare. I don't know what it is, but it is not the water lily I thought I was getting. It definitely has more of a pink bloom than deep red. Since I got it on sale (that should have been a hint of what I was probably NOT getting) and because it is so prolific (which I understand Red Flare is not), I have resigned to enjoying it as an "unknown" night blooming water lily.

Here is a link to photos of what the genuine Red Flare looks like:

Mine might be Red Cup? See link:

Great link, Becky. Yep, I definitely have the Red Flare - though none of the photos I've seen (maybe it's my computer) capture the color of it. Close enough to know it's a beauty! Red Cup is no slouch, either. BTW, did you see the co-op for TWL? :-)

Yep! I ordered with the co-op! Great prices!!! :-) Thanks!

Here's a photo of mine. Still no positive ID on it. (It's got pink blooms not red.) :-( But it's definitely a night bloomer.

Thanks, kaperc! I use that website all the time for reference for my water garden containers. It seems to be most accurate and has tons of information that I couldn't find anywhere else. :-)
