I'm looking for a recommendation on a good Green cabbage cultivar to grow for fall. I looked through Plantfiles but no particular cultivar jumped out at me. I'm leaning towards 'Storage No. 4' from Johnny's but the name seems uninspired.

Whats a good Cabbage to grow for Fall?
Depends on your purpose. If for market, a round headed type of 3-5 lbs is most popular. In open pollinated Danish Ball head and its derivatives, Hybrid -Hercules or Rio Verde. The traditional fall cabbage was the Drumhead and its derivatives. (Late Flat Dutch) Hybrid - O.S. Cross
Hi Farmerdill,
I'm not looking for a market type since my market will be closed by the time I harvest these. I'm mostly wanting to try hybrids until I learn more about what I'm doing. Looking for a large, tasty cabbage that will keep well. I'll look into the Hercules and Rio Verde ones you mentioned.
Thanks,
Jeff
If you want large ( 12-16 lb) try Megaton or O. S. Cross.
