last year at the end of the year i took a cutting and rooted it in water. i planted it outside in march, after the dangers of frosts were almost all gone. it frosted on easter for some weird reason. it got all of the trees and everything that was alraeady coming out. the brugmansia fared rather well. it only dropped a few leaves and kept right on growing. it is oly abot 1 1/2' tall now, and is not groing so fast. should i get flowers this year? what say yall?
should i expect flowers?
How often do you water and fertilize? The plant looks a little droopy and the edges of some of the older leaves look dried out. It may need to be watered more often. If it's not growing quickly, it is probably in need of more fertilizer. I don't think it'
Was this a cutting above the "Y"? If it was and it is otherwise healthy, it should bloom sooner.
that is the most recent pic i have of the plant. it has perked up a lot since, but hardly grown any. the older leaves are the damage that the frost did.i fertilize about once a month w/ "colorburst" fertilizer. we have been gettin afternoon rainstorms about every other day. it was not above the "y'' when i took the cutting. the plant it came from had not formed one yet. the plant's location @ the time was in Lexington, SC (near columbia) and in an 8a/8b location, but the parent did not come back this year. could it be anything having to do w/ being transplanted?
I'd fertilize it some more. The new Miracle Grow is supposed to be great. Last year I fed my brugs twice a week and they grew like weeds. This year, I've been a slug, plus it's been very, very hot, so have only been feeding them once a week. Another good thing to use is Messenger. That should help out too.
mmk thanks i'll try that! thanks!
Here is one success story I remember from last year. It can be done!
