I'd never seen a photo if a white peacock before, Crested. What a magnificent bird. And your babies are adorable. Thanks so much for posting.
if you look to the bottom right of his tail on the 2nd picture you can just make out the white hen, behind his tail
Oh, I see her. Is she suitably impressed? LOL I have to say if I guy did this for me, I'd be swooning.
Just what the doctor ordered!! Thanks for the happy pics CC!

Great photos - and I love the little ones. Thanks for posting. I've had a hard day cleaning out to the bottom of the deep litter in the hen house and mulching lots of plants with the proceeds LOL Those peacock photos and the babies lift the spirits :)
Everything is great here! It's really hot and muggy but we had a bit of a rain storm earlier and are supposed to get more. Bring it on!!
Hey Philomel!!
Hey there Chelle :) There's a thunderstorm brewing here at the moment. I love watching them rolling in from the Pyrenees. It's usually hot and dry by this time of year, so I'm really appreciating the more workable ground and the new plants getting watered in.
I bet that is something to see! I just get to see them roll from one farm to the next. LOL It's really FLAT here! I hope we get enough rain to do something. It is sooooooooo dry!!
We're a couple of hours drive from the mountains and its flattish in front of us. In the summer we hardly ever see the Pyrenees because of the haze, but in the winter sometimes you feel you could almost touch them they are so clear. My porte fenetre (french doors) face towards them and I can sit in my chair and watch the rain etc on its way. Most of our weather comes from that direction.
Hope you get your rain. It was drought here this time last year, so I'm very thankful that we have had more than our share this spring/early summer.
How're the tribe? lol
Oh how I wish for porte fenetre and a mountain view!! I bet that house and garden of yours are gorgeous now! I'm thrilled to have my 7 acres and dreams though!
We still only have sprinkles but I've not given up hope. :)
The girls are all doing wonderful! I have two on the honor roll and five playing sports. Number five also starts school this year. Five down, one to go.........LOL I can't decide if that makes me happy or sad.
It's hard work looking after it all - though not as hard as keeping up with six active people I'm sure - and 7 acres!! Wow, I can't believe 5 at school! What's the honor roll?
Bittersweet time when the last little body goes to school, still, not yet.
Fingers crossed for your rain :)
Honor roll-two of the kids carried straight A's or A's with a couple of B's. Straight A's are our highest on the grade scale. :)
I'm trying to figure out what the little one will do without anyone here to boss her around. I guess I should find her a preschool or a friend for the school year.
The age range is 3-13 now with birthdays rolling around soon!
Wow, that's impressive! Well done to them.
Oooh all those birthdays - busy busy busier
Yes, it'll be strange with just one at home.....
Your peacocks are beautiful, I saw a few chicks at the poultry auction last week, they went for $30 each, small only a few weeks old, they were also white. I wish I had room for a few, they sure are beautiful.
Cathy
CRESTED, What an excellent idea! This is just the thread I needed. Hubby & I brought in 250 square bales in the last 2 days with our little Cub Cadet tractor. WAY too much work at our old age. We'll hire someone for the next field which is twice as big.
That peacock is SO AWESOME. I checked web sites around here for them back before I realized how much work a farm really is. The breeders that I found around here were selling them from $160-$180 each. Thankfully, that deterred me from getting any. I can barely handle my adopted CornishX and my wild Pit Hen.
Philomel, I had no idea there were folks on this forum from other countries. This site just keeps getting more & more interesting! Your view through your porte fenetre sounds WAY cooler than mine. Currently my porte fenetre presents a view of a horse trailer we are restoring & an old metal storage shed left by the previous owner. And the only Pyrenees round these parts is my dog Andre the Giant.
Badseed you must feel like you've chucked hay bales around everyday with that size family! LOL. You must be doing something right, 2 on the honor role & 2 active in sports! Have tons of fun with your last little one at home!
Margie
Is that what you call a mudpuppy?
He's sooo cute
they remind me so much of my old Newfies
Andre REFUSES to come into the house & rarely goes into any of the outbuildings though they are open to him. Even in the heavy storms, he mans his post & only occasionally heads to the woods for cover. He returns wearing most of it. He is a mud puppy indeed! Guess I should be glad he won't come in the house. Road Runner the Pit Hen on the other hand has no qualms about coming in the breakfast nook through my porte fenetre (I just love writing that!).
Margie
can someone pronounce that for me
I soooo want to impress someone
crestedchik I'll try :)
port fennetra, with the emphasis on the second e and if you want to sound really french you have to roll the r on the back of your tongue and sort of swallow the a a bit ;o))
I though all the doors in France were "French"............
Nadine
Yep this is just what we needed indeed! My kids talked me into going to Hard Labor Creek State Park this past weekend just to relax!!!! Heres one of the photos I took of the spillway that forms a beautiful run of little waterfalls!!! Im so lucky to live less than 30 minutes away!

MQN LOLOL you have a point!
In the UK 'french doors' are double doors with glass in The french name for them translates as 'window doors' which seems reasonable.
Oh what a beautiful place Eufaula, thanks for posting that - I can hear the water from here :)
Andre sounds a real character! As does your pit hen LOL
Beautiful bird - wow!
How adorable Eufaula, that's definitely a cheer you up sight!
Sorry Philomel I could not resist I had been holding it in toooo long! Its what we call them here also.
Eufaula - truly gorgeous pictures. Glad to hear you are feeling better.
Love that!!!!
Ah, you call them portes fenetres MQN?
With a very terrible accent. I have a speech impediment trouble with r's and w's I sound like Elmer Fudd when excited. My mother is French, my granny was Parisian French and grandpa was Quebecois. But you dang well know I meant French doors now who is pulling who's leg?
Nadine Renee
Oh Eufala what gorgeous pics! I can't say I'm too fond of deer lately though. I work for Texas Parks & Wildlife & SO MANY well meaning folk call her to report little ole fawns abandoned. They aren't of course, Mama is just out getting dinner, lunch or whatever. The fawns instinctively lay very still until she returns. Which looks like the pic you caught of Mama greeting baby.
Philomel ... thanks for the french lesson. And, thank you so much for the view of the Pyrenees. Yes, my Andre is quite a guy. (Andre pronouced with a soft "A" and emphasis on the last syllable.) No?!?
My Pit Hen is very comical. She is afraid of nothing...except Andre. If she only knew, he is terrified of her!
Margie
I'm really loving the positive pics and notes on this thread. Thanks again Crested!
LOLOL MQN ;o)) I couldn't resist either.......
Well you certainly have the pedigree - I've no french blood at all, just live here lol.
I love that Margie - huge dog afraid of small hen!
Yes, I agree, thanks Crested.
I'm going to the library and get those learning french for dummys tapes........
In the mean time I'm get some windex so I can see whats outside my port fennEtra
oh I'm to classy for my chicks
too classy for my chicks
though I live in the sticks
Is that how that song goes????
LOL Crestedchik - Yes, but are you sure you wanna be on a catwalk?
