Last year we had small green frogs show up to live mostly in the biggest (200 gal) of our small ponds. This year, a much larger green frog showed up to live, at first, in my little 1/2 whiskey barrel water feature :-) It took him about 3 weeks to discover and move into the larger pond, and I think he only moved after a plastic shopping bag blew into his water from somewhere and scared him off. I haven't seen any other frogs yet this year.
I have a new froggy resident
Lucky you......I love frogs. I put a pot with water out on the patio this year. I doubt that I'll be lucky enough to have any frogs move in, despite the fact that they're developing all the land around here that used to be a swamp.....I'm sure they could use a little pond to escape to. Do you have any pictures of the whole pond and the whiskey barrel?
Sandy
I'll look for some pics (or take new ones) when I get home tonight. I love your pot!
Oh dear, now I'll be thinking of pond pots. ~:0)
Notice that it's pretty plain :-( I'm so far behind this year it's pathetic. Hopefully both it and the pond will be cleaned up and restocked with plants this coming weekend.
(Plain) pond pic #1. This is in our garden railroad which is still very much a work in progress. For more on that see my garden diary :-)
Sorry - my connection is slow tonight for some reason. I timed out trying to upload the 2nd pond pic. It and more pics of what's blooming for me now on the weekend hopefully.
Thanks Ginny. You have a liitle railroad in your garden? Cool!! It would be awesome to have something like that set up in the yard. I'll have to check out your garden diary.
Oh I love your frog Ginny. I can hear frogs in the run-off ponds near our house, but don't have any in the yard. Nightowl, your pots are lovely!
Joanne
Love the railway track. What an original idea!
Thanks :-) We're having a lot of fun with that.
I really enjoyed reading about and looking at the pictures of the railroad in your garden diary Ginny. It would be a lot of fun to do something like that. I've always wanted to have a train ever since seeing one at some friends when I was a little kid. Have you been working on it lately?
Sandy
Thanks Sandy. No, we haven't been working on it much lately. We had an unfortunate experience with a wet load of snow and ice on a garden shed roof this winter - the roof collapsed :-( So between demolishing old sheds (2), preparing the ground for a new larger shed, and trying to get all of my cleanup and planting done in the gardens, I'm afraid the railroad has been suffering from neglect. I'm hoping to at least get a good start on it this weekend.

That's too bad about the sheds. This time of year there's so much to do in the garden without having to deal with things like that. I hope you take lots of pictures once you do get going on the railroad.
Lots and lots and LOTS of pictures! You'll probably all get tired of me posting them :-)
Hi Ginny. Can't wait to see more progress on the railroad. Such a great project, one that I bet will aways be getting a little tweaking, just because it's fun to play with.
I got a frog picture the other day too, if I can find it. The frogs are so loud here in the evening, you can't hear yourself think.
Brenda
Ginny - lucky you with that frog. Also enjoyed the railroad pic. I'll try to look in on the weekend, but we're off on vacation for 3 weeks and my computer time will likely be limited.
Oh yes, we have many, many, many plans and possibilities - and down right impractical impossibilities - for the railroad. Probably enough to keep us going for the next several lifetimes :-)
Love your little froggy Brenda! I just love the sound of them. It takes me back to my childhood and simpler times. LOL They actually lull me to sleep like a lullabye.
I think I'm lucky too Ann. Have a wonderful vacation!

Ginny.... I just love your idea for the railroad through the garden. I don't dare tell my kids about it or we will be building one this weekend. One of my son'e has loved trains since he was able to walk and still does at age 11. He would love your garden as I do to.
Bea
:-) Thanks Bea.
