bulbs in Alabama

My mother-in-law is moving from Ohio to Huntsville, Ala. She loves spring bulbs (daffs,tulips,esp.) and has hundreds of them. How are they grown in the south? Are they planted in the fall? thanks in advance.

She will probably have to experiment a little, because she will find that some of the ones that did well up north, just won't last in the south. They may do well the first year or two, but will decline instead of multiplying. She should certainly give them a chance, but should be prepared to lose a few. The ones that make it will be the ones best suited for the area.
