Does anyone have any information on this cultivar? I'm getting conflicting information as to whether it is an actual cultivar or if it's actually H. carnosa 'Rubra' being sold as 'Strawberries and Cream'.
Hoya 'Strawberries and Cream'
Joan...can you post a picture.... Those carnosa cultivars are a dogs breakfast!!!!
No, I don't have a picture. I don't even have the plant. LOL
What I'm after is finding out if there really is a cultivar by that name, or if it's actually H. carnosa 'Rubra' being marketed by the name "Strawberries and Cream'.
Does that make sense?
I was lucky enough to be in walmart when the plant shipment arrived...I dug through all the unpacked boxes and got the only H. carnosa "rubra" they had!!!! It is a beauty, nice white and pink leaves....I can see it being sold as "strawberries and cream"
Makes sense to me. Who knows what name they "they" will come up with next!
it may be a trade name for the H carnosa tricolor ( K queen )
Well, we have 'Strawberries and Cream' in PlantFiles. We also have a report that it may not be an actual cultivar but H. carnosa 'Rubra' being sold as 'Strawberries and Cream'.. That's what I'm trying to figure out.
I am pretty sure it's H. carnosa 'Rubra' (AKA 'Krimson Princess'), like Joan stated above. It is constantly sold on Ebay with the name "Strawberries and Cream". And the pictures are identical to 'Rubra'. But I actually found one being sold as "Strawberry and Cream", even though it's just plain old carnosa with no variegation...first time I saw that...must be a mistake on the seller's part (here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/Wax-Plant-Hoya-Carnosa-Strawberry-Cream-Houseplant_W0QQitemZ180128762344QQihZ008QQcategoryZ1510QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem).
Here's a link to one listing that actually lists all the names it goes by ('Krimson Princess', 'Rubra', 'Strawberries and Cream'): http://cgi.ebay.com/Hoya-Krimson-Princess-Strawberries-and-Cream_W0QQitemZ320127494453QQihZ011QQcategoryZ42211QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Here's the picture that's on the above linked auction:
