Should I compost my spent vegetable plants or will that just concentrate any problems (like insects and diseases)?
Organic Vegetable Composting Question
I'll venture a response. It would depend partly on the health of the plants -- if you have something that has a bad fungus or virus or infestation, it could perpetuate it. HOWEVER it will also depend on how you compost. If you do so in a way that generates a good bit of heat, it SHOULD kill the bad guys. Boils down to what you're willing to risk, I guess. Have you posted on the "soil and compost" forum? I know Soferdig will have an opinion... and I daresay a good one.
