I got this plant awhile back from the greenhouses of Filoli, a historic garden here. It has a very old looking and thin stalk that goes into the dirt.
I need advice, please.
I don't know the answers, Kell but I think you need to send it to me. LOL Hope someone can answer your questions. I love the leaf on it.

LOL Ada
Kell I think it need a totem to climb up......
Kell, looks like Philodendron Squamiferum. It should root just fine as long as those nodes(on the UNBROKEN stem!) are buried under the soil. If you cut the stem and expose it to soil, you run the risk of rot.
Ada, I'll be giving mine a haircut soon, so if you'd like a cutting, I'd be happy to send you one.
GH
Oh Ada, the petioles are the cool part, all red and hairy! I forgot you are a philo nut now. LOL. Looks like GH is so nice to share with you so I don't have to. LOL But you know I would if I do not kill it.
Hi Alistair!! How are you?
Thanks Growhappy, I will go plant it deeper.
KELL,
Growhappy is correct, Philodendron SQUAMIFERUM, it is different from
Lacinatum and others because of the hairy petioles. One of my favorites.
Armando
Thanks Armando. If it is one of your favorites, I best take care of mine. Did you see, mine is in flower?
GrowHappy, thank you so much. I'll D-mail you.
Armando, I believe you have one of every kind they are and they all look great.
Kell, you'll do great with it.
Hi, Alistair.
Hi Ada and Hi Kell :-)
Alistair, do you grow the Philo's also?
AHELMS,
Have a nice collection but far from the hundreds of philos listed.
Thanls for the kudos anyway.
Armando.
Armando, most of us wouldn't have enough room to grow them all. LOL
AHELMS,
Surprise!!!!!! my backyard ( GARDEN ) is 50 feet x50 feet.
When there's a will, there's a way !!!
Armando
Well you must share that way with us Armando. My yard is bursting at the seams. Any more plants and it will sink into the ground.
Hi again Alistair. LOL
