"Gator Pride" now blooming.

The colors are different. Will have to check the parentage to see if it will make a good seed parent in crosses.

Hi Kyle,
This is what my first blooming group looked like, but now the colors are getting a little deeper.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

cat, even deeper than this???? I thought this was dark.

Kyle :-)

Kyle, I believe this one was hybridized by Curt Sinclair, unknown x Fifth Dimension.
That would explain the orange to yellow shift during the day.
This was my recent first bloom, nice plant overall so far.

Such an unusual bloom color. Mine is budding, finally. I get excited every time I find a different one starting to bud.

Not as big of a flower as I expected.Oh well they can't all be huge! LOL
Kyle

Me too!

Dave, the parentage of Gator Pride is Pete's Prank x Tamibon.
It works well as father and mother. Gator Ace, Gator Magic, Monique's Serenity, Purple Goddess, Seeking the Gold and Tsunami have GP genes in them.

Carlos, my apologies for any inaccurate info given.
I did double check the databases from the American, Australian, and the International
Hibiscus Societies, and they all give the parentage as: Unknown x Fifth Dimension.
Either way a beautiful bloom and bush that grows well own its own root.

I had this one last year and really enjoyed the blooms. Great pics everyone.

Dave, if you're member of the THML list - I think so - you can check message number 22367 where Curt talked about how he found the lost tag of the original GP plant. Unfortunatelly that info wasn't updated into the databases.

Carlos, I should have known that you would be right.
Thank you for the link explaining the parentage.

one of my gator prides is really dark.
the second bush is a little lighter.
bought both from hvh. love them!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Mine is finally getting some buds. How nice it would be to live someplace where I could have them blooming year round.

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

Great pic, Kyle!

I took this pic yesterday afternoon of my GP blooms - isn't it interesting the difference in colors between Iowa, Florda and California? This is my daughter's "special" plant and was sent by Curt after I told him how upset my DD was when the gardeners thought it was dead during the winter and chopped it to shreds...
