Why are my blue trumpets so small

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Oh... got a few stray brug blooms starting to open.. lots of buds though...
this little blue baby is starting go flowering nicely... I'm looking foward to it getting to be a 6' tall shrub... and does it really flower all of the time..
but the trumpets are so small... but terribly cute with their little white along the edge of the skirt... feeding it furriously.. hoping to get them about 14" long... Gordon

What a great shot, Gordon! Well you best fed them thru an IV if you want those 14 inches long. LOL

Lovely shot of your iochroma Gordon, I have this one and it is one of my favorites. Mine bloomed all summer long last year. We had an unusual winter with freezing nights for 2 weeks straight and I lost it...or so I thought. Just saturday I noticed sprouts in the abandoned, dried out pot and ran for the water. Lesson learned, June is NOT too long to wait for signs of life! It makes a gorgeous huge bush and the only drawback besides being an aphid/whitefly magnet is that it needs so much support. Just gets long-limbed and flops every which way.

Gordon Your too funny!
If you ever succeed with getting big blooms let us all know. I have this one too. How are you going to over winter next fall? Will it go dormant?
I have the actinus australis (spelling) in pots that went dormant for me last winter in the garage. They are doing nicely now and have sprouted new leaves. Can't wait for the blooms.

Pudgy Mudpies did your plant freeze to the ground or just loose all of it's leaves?
